The Reign of Mrs. M Boois (1994 - 2004)

Mrs. M. Boois’s Reign as Principal (1994-2004)
School Establishment and Early Years
January 10, 1994: Parents and the principal, Mrs. M. Boois, began cleaning the old hostel building to prepare for the new Junior Primary School.

January 18, 1994: Mr. A. Meyer officially handed over the school to Mrs. M. Boois, marking the start of Salmon Boois Junior Primary School, which began with 379 learners (66 from Sonora, 144 from Rooiduin, and 139 new Grade 1 learners) and 12 teachers.

School Governance
March 2, 1994: The first school board was elected, led by Mr. J. Coetzee from Sonora P.S. The board included several parents and teachers.
Recognizing Community Contributions
March 2, 1996: A parent meeting resulted in naming the Junior Primary School in honor of Salmon Boois for his significant contributions to education in the 1950s, where he taught underprivileged children out of his home.
School Events and Activities
March 3, 1994: The first grade 3 learners’ class size required an additional teacher, Mrs. E. Uises.

May 1994: During the May holidays, a water tank was removed from the school premises, leading to a police investigation.

June 1, 1994: A meeting was held between the school board, parents, and a delegation from Keetmanshoop to discuss the removal of the water tank.

June 16, 1995: African Child Day was celebrated with Sonora P.S and Rooiduin J.P.S.

August 1, 1994: Learners and parents celebrated World Health Day with a presentation about polio.

October 13, 1995: National Arbor Day was celebrated with tree planting around the school.

January 12, 1995: Teachers commenced work for the new school year, with Mrs. K. Kulhewind announced as the first head of department.

Academic Growth and Recognition
January 16, 1996: School resumed for learners with a total of 380 students and 12 teachers.

October 29, 1997: The principal announced that permission was granted to open the school on March 19, 1998.

January 1998: The school closed with 493 learners at the end of the year, showing significant growth.

Challenges and Changes
March 24, 1997: Classes were frequently changed due to ongoing renovations.

September 29, 1999: Ms. L. Garoes passed away after six years of service at Salmon Boois J.P.S.

The Reign of Mrs. B. IIKhaoseb (2004 - 2007)

Transition of Leadership

  • January 16, 2004: Mrs. Bertha IIKhaoseb officially took over as the new principal, bringing a friendly and positive atmosphere to the school.

Celebrating School Events

  • January 25, 2004: A parent meeting was held to discuss important school matters, with parents expressing their commitment to support the school.

  • April 19, 2004: The school held elections for student prefects to maintain order during break times.

Cultural Awareness and Community Engagement

  • June 21-25, 2004: A successful HIV/AIDS Awareness Program was implemented in coordination with all classes.

  • September 27, 2004: The school announced the celebration of Cultural Week, inviting community participation.

Infrastructure and Resources Development

  • August 19, 2004: The Village Council of Aranos finally agreed to install a water meter reader in the school yard.

  • January 18, 2005: The principal appointed Mr. Ricardo H. Daniels to fill a vacancy left by Mr. Engelhardt Gawachab.

School Improvements and Acquisitions

  • June 12, 2006: The staff purchased a new printer for the school’s computer to improve administrative efficiency.

  • October 17, 2005: The new copier machine purchased for the school was delivered, enhancing the school’s operational capabilities.

Community Support and Fundraising Efforts

  • June 2, 2006: A concert was organized by staff to raise funds for repairing broken windows, generating a profit of approximately N$700 – N$800.

  • April 8, 2005: The principal bought necessary goods for the school and hostel, including furniture and equipment.

Enhancing Educational Outcomes

  • February 27, 2006: Class visits from Head of Departments were conducted to monitor teaching outcomes and provide support where needed.

  • March 17, 2006: The school celebrated Independence Day with a well-organized program that involved students and staff.

  • January 16, 2006: Mrs. MM  Ludeke officially took over as the new principal, bringing a friendly and positive atmosphere to the school.
  • 19 May 2008: The school hosted a visit from Mr. B. Boys, the Director of Education for the Hardap Region, to share insights and concerns regarding effective teaching and learning.
  • 20 May 2008: J. Coetzee, Chairperson of the CHC Clinic Health Committee, conducted health sessions on tuberculosis with CHC members.
  • 21 May 2008: Aankauski, the Pre-Primary Coordinator, provided monitoring and support for early childhood education.
